Georgetown, Guyana and Toronto, Canada. March 31, 2009
Advanced Utility Systems (“Advanced”) is pleased to announce that Guyana Power & Light Inc. (“GPL”) has selected CIS Infinity to replace its legacy customer information and billing (CIS) solution.
GPL’s choice of Advanced Utility Systems further strengthens Advanced’s commitment to The Caribbean Community and Common Market (“CARICOM”) member nations.
Based in Georgetown, Guyana, GPL is the largest supplier of electricity in the country of Guyana – serving approximately 130,000 electric customers. Guyana is part of mainland South America, situated on the Northern Coast. Guyana is bordered by Suriname to the east, Brazil to the south and southwest, Venezuela to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the north.
GPL began their search for a new CIS in early 2007. Working with the Inter-American Development Bank (“IDB”) GPL was able to identify and qualify firms to bid on replacing their existing legacy CIS system. After a rigorous evaluation, and thorough reference checks, GPL selected Advanced and CIS Infinity as their preferred CIS solution. As part of this evaluation, Advanced also presented to GPL the robust functionality of CIS Infinity and Advanced’s commitment to CARICOM member nations.
As Steve Hammond, General Manager of Advanced Utility Systems commented:
Implementation of CIS Infinity is scheduled to begin in May 2009. Advanced Utility Systems is excited to start a long and mutually successful partnership with GPL and the Country of Guyana.
