City of Colton Selects CIS Infinity

California municipal utility chooses Advanced Utility Systems customer information and billing software

Colton, CA and Toronto, Canada. April 5, 2005

The City of Colton, California has selected CIS InfinityŽ offered by Advanced Utility Systems Corporation, as their new customer information and billing solution.

The City's current CIS and billing system is a 20-year-old custom-built application that runs on a Hewlett Packard e3000 server housed at the neighbouring city of Azusa. Hewlett Packard has announced the end of support for the e3000 as of December 2006.

Lorraine Armstrong, Director of Finance with the City of Colton explains, "When we found out about Hewlett Packard's decision to discontinue support for our system, we decided that it was a good time to start looking for a new CIS. Our in-house system served us well for many years, but we are outgrowing its capabilities. With CIS Infinity, Advanced is providing us with a solution that can handle our time-of-use and other complex billing requirements."

The City of Colton provides electric, water, and wastewater services to its citizens. All three utility departments operate under the umbrella of Colton Public Utilities, who also bills for refuse/trash. Established in 1887, the utility's mission is to build a partnership with the community based upon loyalty and trust. Their highest priority is meeting the needs of their customers while making the community a better place to live and work.

Colton Public Utilities, which services 19,000 customers, is the 9th Advanced client in California but the first municipal electric utility client in the state. "We are excited to add another client in the California marketplace" commented Patricia Sorbara, President and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced. "We have concentrated on this market for some time and are excited that a customer focused client such as the City of Colton has selected CIS Infinity to meet their needs."

CIS Infinity will be running on a Microsoft SQL server at the City. The implementation is due to be completed in the fall of this year.
