Grand Island, NE and Toronto, ON. December 10, 2013
Advanced Utility Systems, a division of N. Harris Computer Corporation (Advanced), is excited to announce that the City of Grand Island (the City) has selected Advanced’s flagship customer information and billing system, CIS Infinity, along with Infinity.Link to enhance the City’s utility billing processes and expand its customer service offerings.
The City of Grand Island is the fourth largest city in Nebraska. The community serves residents in much of rural Nebraska including an area of over 20,000 square miles with an estimated population of over 200,000. The City provides electric, water and sewer services to over 25,000 customers in and outside of the City limits, billed on a monthly basis.
The City’s current customer information and billing system is an in-house written IBM AS 400 application that lacked much of the functionality and automation needed by current progressive utility departments. With growing customer service demands, the need for workflow automation and the need for web self-service access, the City determined a full replacement of its legacy system was necessary. During the fall of 2012, the City released a request for proposal and received many responses. After a comprehensive bid process that included onsite software demonstrations and reference checks, Advanced was ultimately chosen to replace the current IBM system. As noted by the City’s Utility Services Manager, Pat Kaup, “We assessed several CIS products available on the market and after a thorough evaluation Advanced and CIS Infinity were the clear choice for us."
Advanced has kicked off the implementation of CIS Infinity and Infinity.Link at the City and will utilize its award-winning implementation methodology for the management of the project. Go-live is expected during the fall of 2014.
Peter Fanous, Executive Vice President, mentions, “We are very excited as the City of Grand Island represents our first customer in the state of Nebraska. The Advanced team is committed to providing CIS solutions that will increase the City’s customer service offerings. We are thrilled to have teamed up with the City and look forward to a strong partnership with them over the long term.”
