City of Lee’s Summit selects Harris’ Advanced Utility Systems

Lee’s Summit, MO and Toronto, Canada. November 25, 2010

Harris Computer Systems ("Harris”) is pleased to announce that the City of Lee’s Summit (the City) has selected Advanced Utility Systems’ CIS Infinity to replace its legacy customer information and utility billing solution.

Lee’s Summit, Missouri is a suburb of Kansas City. It is located in the far southeastern quadrant of the metropolitan area with a population of 92,000. It is the sixth largest city in the state and one of the top “100 best places to live”, according to Money Magazine, June 2008. The City’s Water Utilities Department operates, manages and maintains the drinking water supply and wastewater conveyance systems for the City’s 35,000 customers.

In January of 2010, after a thorough needs assessment of the current systems’ business processes, users’ requirements, reporting and constraints, the City issued an RFP for the replacement of its ERP System. The City also sought proposals from point solution vendors to replace its existing utility billing application. The new system had to enable the City to improve the customer service level provided to its citizens.

After a rigorous evaluation process that included demonstrations, reference checks and site visits, the City’s evaluation team selected Advanced Utility Systems and CIS Infinity.

As Randy Dickey, Chief Technology Officer stated, "After an extensive evaluation process we found Advanced was the best fit to meet our customer service goals, address our functional requirements and support integration to multiple products including Lawson and Tele-Works. CIS Infinity is a well designed product that should meet our needs now and into the future."

“CIS Infinity will provide integration with the Cityworks asset management system. Previously, duplicate entry into the legacy billing system and Cityworks for service orders was required. CIS Infinity allows us to take what were once duplicate or manual processes and automate them. This will improve our ability to meet customer needs,” stated Brent Boice, Assistant Director of Water Utilities.

“The legacy system had been in place for over 20 years and reached the end of its useful life,” continued Mr. Boice.

“The City is dedicated to providing quality services. CIS Infinity will ensure our ability to deliver those services to our customers for many years to come.”

Advanced and the City worked closely through the contract negotiations phase and executed its agreements in October of 2010.

“The City’s implementation of Infinity.Link, alongside CIS Infinity will greatly enhance the level of customer service that the City can provide to its constituents. CIS Infinity’s comprehensive exceptions processing will allow the City to automate and detect billing exceptions early in the process. With Infinity.Link - Advanced’s internet customer self-service and payment solution - citizens will now not only be able to pay their bills online, but will also have access to their historical billing, payment and usage information. They will also have the ability to initiate service requests. These services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” states Peter Fanous, General Manager for Advanced.

“Through our partnerships with Lawson Software and Tele-Works’ interactive voice application, the City will have a seamlessly integrated solution. This will eliminate data re-keying and improve the overall efficiency of the City’s employees,” adds Peter Fanous, General Manager for Advanced.

“We are very excited to implement CIS Infinity and Infinity.Link at the City. We look forward to working closely with the City and our partners to ensure that the City has a solution that benefits the citizens of Lee’s Summit.”
